
Greta Skelly, also known as “The Diva of the Zarzuela”, was born in Peru. She
was considered a “prodigy” when her vocal talent debuted on Radio Horizonte, in
Tingo Maria at the age of 6. She began her formal vocal training at age 15, in the
Conservatory Carlos Valderrama, Trujillo, Peru.
Years later she continued her vocal training with Monserrat Rodoreda, Spanish
Soprano, who introduced her to the fascinating world of the Zarzuela. Skelly
worked with the best companies of Zarzuela of her country. She starred in: “The
Tabernera of the Port”, “Water, azucarillos and brandy”, “the Court of the
Pharaoh”, “Los Molinos de Viento”, and “Luisa Fernanda” among others. In addition,
she also participated in Operas, such as “La Traviata” and “Il Signor Bruschino”.
At the same time, she developed her career as an actress with the main companies
of theater of Peru, participating in diverse plays of singular success, like “Aleluya,
Aleluya” (The Sound of Music), “The Man of Mancha”, “Lend Me a Tenor”,
“Prohibited to Commit suicide in Spring”, “Dona Rosita, unmarried” and in numerous
musical comedies for children. Greta also acted in programs of radio and television.
The last soap opera she filmed in Peru was “Natacha”, which was broadcasted
internationally, including the United States. She made many artistic tours to the
corners of her mother country, Latin America and the United States.
